Rediscovering Beauty In A Post Modern World | Winston Marshall, Jonathan Pageau, Makoto Fujimura

Our history has been marked by creative expressions that seem to point us toward something higher. Inherent in each of us there seems to be an attraction to expressions of what we might have traditionally called 'beauty'.

But we live in an age of deconstruction. The realm of artistic expression, often a vanguard for ideological change, has not been immune to the emptying influence of post-modernism. This leads to the question - what insight does our civilisation's rich artistic and cultural tradition still hold today?

Winston Marshall, Makoto Fujimura, Jonathan Pageau and Timothy Patitsas are among those seeking to mine the best from that tradition.  Joining together for our latest offstage podcast, they ask the question:

“is beauty real?”

Drawing on each of their unique experiences and heritage, the group delve further into the nuance of the question, touching on the theological perspectives behind the question of reality, what it means to ‘create’, the idea of transgressive beauty, and more.
