"Elite Failure" Driving Economic Stagnation | Paul Marshall

“Free market capitalism is the greatest instrument of poverty relief that the world has ever seen.”

However, today we see mutations of the 'free market' that are produced by what he Paul Marshall calls “elite failure”.

This manifests in the $2 billion per year that is spent by corporations lobbying in Washington, DC, and the politics and ideology that are weaponised and imposed upon the markets in the absence of strong moral governance.

It is clear that for the ‘fragile plant’ that is our free markets to flourish, it needs to be planted in the soil of "shared values, trust and integrity."

Paul Marshall’s message is this: we must renew our shared understanding of virtue and together commit to stewarding free and competitive markets.

Sir Paul Marshall is CIO and Chairman of Marshall Wace LLP, founder and owner of UnHerd Media, and an investor in GB News Ltd. He is a founding Trustee of Ark, a children’s educational charity, and founder of the Marshall Institute at the LSE.
